Hotel Review: Arlo Wynwood Miami

Why Book?

A chic hotel in the heart of Wynwood featuring a rooftop pool, stellar dining, and a trendy indoor-outdoor cocktail lounge.

Set the Scene

Meet the splashy Arlo, the first hotel to open in Wynwood—Miami’s graffiti-clad neighborhood brimming with galleries, shops, and restaurants. This art-filled oasis strikes the perfect balance between a vibrant urban hotel and a chic getaway. The hotel’s aesthetic draws inspiration from the neighborhood's street art, with its exterior walls showcasing works by Miami-based artist Hoxxoh and 250 contemporary art pieces adorning the public spaces and guest rooms. Enjoy the inviting 9th-floor rooftop pool with a cocktail bar and stunning views of the Miami skyline. Plus, the hotel buzzes with activity thanks to weekly events like comedy nights, fitness classes, and spaces designed for lounging, co-working, and even a yoga deck.

The Backstory

Opened in 2022, the Arlo brand—celebrated for its independent, experience-driven vibe and designing hotels as "home bases" for explorers and a launch pad for all things local—is the perfect fit as the first hotel in this eclectic neighborhood. With its casual atmosphere and community-driven environment, it seamlessly blends into Wynwood's still-scruffy charm, despite the rapid development and commercialization of recent years.

The Rooms

Even with a lively restaurant and bar scene, the hotel's 217 guest rooms offer a peaceful retreat to rest and recharge. Embracing a simple-but-modern aesthetic, the rooms feature white-oak furnishings, bedside wireless charging stations, Bluetooth radios, LED TVs with staycast capabilities, and complimentary WiFi. You'll also find mini fridges, Nespresso machines, and Pharmacopia bath products. The basic King rooms don’t have balconies and are low on frills, so if you want a more indulgent in-room experience, it's best to upgrade to a Balcony King or one of the spacious suites with seating areas.

Food and Drink

The hotel is a hotspot for food and cocktails, tapping local mavens to elevate both. Talented chef Brad Kilgore, a James Beard “Best Chef: South” nominee and Food & Wine “Best New Chefs in America” alumnus, leads Marygold’s Florida Brasserie on the ground floor, serving up dishes like coconut-gouda mousse Oxtail Beignets, Mahi Mahi with aji amarillo, and Short Rib Vaca Frita with roasted maduro purée. The dining room, bathed in warm lighting, natural woods, and lush greenery, features intimate booths, spacious banquettes, and central tables perfectly positioned to watch the action unfold in the open kitchen.

Higher Ground, the third-floor cocktail-centric lounge, is run by Bar Lab Hospitality, known for their wildly popular Broken Shaker concept. This indoor-outdoor lounge boasts an indoor billiards room with a stylish living room vibe, while outside, funky hand-painted benches surround a beautiful Seagrape tree, and wicker chairs, swings, and chaises are perfectly placed among the lush Miami flora.

Work Outs?

While the hotel doesn’t have a spa, it boasts an extensive fitness center and a variety of classes for guests, including yoga on an outdoor deck and bootcamp sessions.

The Neighborhood/Area

Wynwood has long been one of Miami’s edgiest neighborhoods, packed with galleries, boutiques, and a bounty of restaurants all within a 5-block radius. And for this reason, it is one of our favorite areas to visit. You'll want to spend plenty of time exploring on foot, with so much to see and taste around every corner. And if you’re craving some beach time, Miami’s pristine shores are just a quick 15-minute ride over the causeway.

The Service

Friendly, professional, and youthful—the hotel proudly positions itself as a fresh-faced addition to the hospitality scene.

For Families

While the hotel isn’t specifically geared towards families, it’s a great choice for parents seeking a stylish base to explore Wynwood. Some suites connect to king rooms, making it ideal for families. Plus, the restaurant kitchen can cater to kids with simple pasta dishes, even if they’re not on the menu.

Anything left to mention?

While the hotel skips some frills (like room service), it adds thoughtful touches like complimentary fortune cookies with unique fortunes in the rooms and bicycles for guests to explore the neighborhood.
